In a thrilling blend of innovation, endurance, and community spirit, Intel, Africa’s leading smart technology brand, has taken a major stride into the fitness arena with the successful hosting of the first-ever Tour de Nigeria 60km Road Cycling Challenge in Lagos.
Held on November 2, 2025, the landmark event, organised in partnership with Cycology, Nigeria’s foremost cycling club, drew hundreds of cyclists and fitness enthusiasts for a test of stamina, teamwork, and smart technology across the bustling streets of Lagos.
The race kicked off at Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, in the early hours of the morning, following a safety briefing and warm-up session. Riders took on a 60-kilometre route that spanned Osborn Road, Ring Road, and the iconic Third Mainland Bridge, offering breathtaking views of the Lagos Lagoon and skyline. From there, cyclists navigated Iyana-Oworo, Gbagada Expressway, Anthony Oke, and Oshodi Oke, before making a U-turn under the MMIA Bridge and racing back to Ikoyi for a rousing finish.
Supported by Pocari Sweat, Google, and the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), the event was more than a cycling challenge — it was a vibrant celebration of health, resilience, and innovation. Spectators lined parts of the route, cheering on participants and creating an atmosphere of excitement and camaraderie.
At the heart of the challenge was the Intel Apex N10 Smartwatch showcased as the official fitness device for the event. Participants experienced its real-time GPS tracking, accurate distance measurement, and durable Corning Gorilla Glass display that remained clear under Lagos’s intense sun. With its 50-metre water resistance, the smartwatch proved its reliability under varied conditions — an essential advantage for outdoor athletes.
Speaking at the event, Chuks Obikwame, ATL Marketing Manager, Accessories & Small Appliances, itel Nigeria, said the initiative reflects the brand’s vision to connect technology with everyday living. “Tour de Nigeria is more than a cycling challenge — it’s a movement that celebrates passion, fitness, and smart living. With the Apex N10, we’re empowering Nigerians to achieve more through innovation,” he said.
For Cycology Club Captain, Mr. olukunle Osunkunle, the collaboration underscores the power of corporate partnerships in sports development. “Our partnership with itel shows how technology brands can help promote wellness and inclusivity. This event reinforces our mission to grow cycling culture and road safety awareness in Nigeria,” he stated.
As cyclists crossed the finish line back at Dolphin Estate, the atmosphere transformed into a carnival of colour and excitement. itel hosted the Smarter Life Party, a three-hour post-event celebration featuring music, games, giveaways, and product showcases. Participants danced, laughed, and celebrated their achievement — a fitting finale to a day that blended fitness, fun, and innovation.
The inaugural Your de Nigeria Cycling Challenge marks a defining moment for itel’s brand engagement strategy, positioning the company not just as a tech leader but also as a lifestyle enabler. By fusing endurance sports with smart technology, itel reaffirmed its commitment to empowering everyday Nigerians through accessible innovation.
As the sun set over Ikoyi, cyclists departed with medals, memories, and renewed energy. The message was unmistakable: Intel’s Tour de Nigeria isn’t just about inspiring a smarter, fitter, and more connected Nigeria.
