The long awaited National Executive Committee (NECOM) of the
will hold before the end of August while the election of its Board of Trustees (BoT) members will follow. The implementation of this agreement will be monitored by the Customs Consultative Committee (CCC).
These among others were the highlight of the peace meeting of the factions of the foremost freight forwarding association brokered by the Customs Consultative Committee in Abuja on Wednesday.
The meeting which was composed of Customs officials, retired Customs chiefs, eminent leaders of ANLCA and leaders of the warring factions adopted the 2013 Constitution of ANLCA as the official registered Constitution and the working document for the association.
It also adopted the present CRFFN BoT structure as an interim pending the conclusion of the NECOM and Board elections.
The highlights of the meeting signed by the Secretary of CCC, Dr Eugene Nweke further adopted the Association Electoral Committee (ASECO) as presently composed but said that the ASECO members operating licenses validity will be verified with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
The same treatment is applicable to the BOT. Those their licensed are found to be invalid will be dropped from being a member of the ASECO/BoT.
Also, CCC agreed to allow the NECOM to remain in office in the next two weeks and hand over to the Board.
The Board will join efforts with the ASECO to supervise and conduct a NECOM election in the subsequent two weeks while the new NECOM will organise election for the Board.
While CCC emphasized that character/ integrity and capacity should be giving a priority in choosing leaders across board, it urged the aspirants to conduct themselves with high sense of integrity and maturity, and educate their followers and supporters.
It stated that a press release announcing the agreements reached at the meeting must be jointly signed by the BoT Chairman and Vice to enlighten members on the accord reached.
The CCC to monitor the progress of accord implementation and the electoral process, even as it promised to host a post-election dinner for the association in Lagos.
