Nigeria Customs Service, Tin Can Island Port Command don catch two big containers wey dem take motor hide plenty hard drugs wey worth ₦5.3 billion. The tori come out for one press briefing wey happen for the Command headquarters on Friday, October 24, 2025.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, yarn say the seizure show say the Command no dey play when e reach to protect Nigeria border and make sure people dey obey international trade law.
According to am, the first container—wey get number HLXU8500072 and Bill of Lading HLCUTOR2506000834—come from Montreal, Canada. Dem catch am on September 4, 2025, after Customs use correct intelligence and joint operation with other agencies do 100 per cent check. Inside the container, dem find four motor wey dem use hide 156 packets of Colorado Indica (a kind of Indian hemp) wey weigh 78kg, and 1.2kg of Hashish oil.
The second container—number FANU312876/9—dem nab am on October 24, 2025, after another correct tip-off. Inside, dem find four motor again wey dem use hide 2,081 packages of Cannabis Indica (weigh 1,093kg) and 8 packages of Crystal Methamphetamine (Meth) wey weigh 8kg.
Altogether, the total street value of the drugs na about ₦5.304 billion.

As e be say Customs no dey work alone, dem don hand over all the seized drugs to NDLEA make dem continue the investigation and do the legal process wey follow.
Comptroller Onyeka thank NDLEA, Nigeria Police, Navy and other security agencies for their joint effort to fight drug trafficking and cross-border wahala. He warn people wey dey do illegal business make dem stop because e dey destroy the country economy and e dey dangerous to people health and security.
He talk say: “Make everybody know say Tin Can Island Port Command under my control no go sleep. We go continue to dey alert and no go pity anybody wey wan break Nigeria law or international trade rule.”
Onyeka also beg genuine importers and exporters make dem always declare wetin dem bring in or send out truthfully and follow Customs rule well well. He thank the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and him management team for the solid support wey dem dey give. He still hail journalists for the role wey dem dey play to educate Nigerians on compliance and patriotism.
When NDLEA collect the seized drugs, Commander Daniel Onyishi, wey be NDLEA Tin Can Strategic Command boss, hail Customs for the interception. He say the handover show say both agencies dey work hand-in-hand to keep Nigeria safe from drug wahala.
Commander Onyishi talk say NDLEA go do full investigation and make sure dem destroy the drugs according to law. He promise say the agency go continue to partner with Customs and other security bodies to make Nigeria drug-free.
