We’re reigning NIMAREX purpose with renewed energy, unified spirit—Adewumi

As Nigeria Ship-owners Association (NISA), inaugurates the Nigeria Maritime Expo (NIMAREX) 2024, President of NISA, Otunba Sola Adewunmi, has said that after been in a limbo for about 10 years, the purpose of NIMAREX is being reignited with renewed energy and a unified spirit.
This event, originally conceived by NISA, was envisioned to showcase the vast potential and opportunities within Nigeria’s maritime sector was last held in 2014.
Otunba Adewunmi said, “ One of the key advocacies of our previous NIMAREX event was the call for the creation of a dedicated Ministry for Maritime Affairs, a goal that we are proud to see realized by the current Nigerian government with the establishment of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy. This is a testament to what we can achieve when we speak with one voice and work towards a common goal.”
According to him, tIt reinforces the power of our collective efforts and the importance of NIMAREX as a platform for advocacy and collaboration.
Otunba Adewunmi further said, “As we embark on this new chapter, it is crucial that we all recognize NIMAREX as our event—a true umbrella that brings together all maritime associations, fostering unity and cooperation across the entire industry. This is not just an event for NISA; it is an event for every stakeholder in the maritime sector. Together, we can make NIMAREX a rallying point where our shared interests are promoted, our challenges are addressed, and our future is shaped.”
He extended an open invitation to other associations to bring their suggestions and ideas on how the event can be collectively planned and executed in a manner that it will truly reflect the diverse and dynamic nature of the Nigerian maritime community.
“Your insights and collaboration are invaluable as we work together to make NIMAREX an event that we can all be proud of,” he said.
