Shettima, Atiku, Obi, El-rufai, others attend Fidau prayer for late Buhari in Daura

On Wednesday, Vice President Kashim Shettima, joined by Governors Babagana Zulum of Borno and Dikko Radda of Katsina, led a distinguished group of mourners in Daura for the Fidau prayer in memory of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The event saw the presence of prominent figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Anambra Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai. Other notable attendees included former Katsina Governor Aminu Bello Masari, NDLEA Director General Buba Marwa, Daura Emir HRH Faruk Umar Faruk, former Army Chief of Staff Yusuf Tukur Buratai.

Others are former Justice Minister Abubakar Malami, former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy Aliyu Isah Pantami, Senator Abdul Aziz Yar’adua, former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika, former NIA Director General Ahmad Rufa’i, and Katsina Deputy Governor Faruk Jobe.

Religious and traditional leaders were also present, ready to guide the congregation in prayer. The ceremony, which began around 12:34 PM and was led by Imam Yazid, featured Qur’anic recitations, supplications, and charitable acts in honor of the late president.

The assembly prayed for Buhari’s eternal rest and entry into Aljanna Firdausi, while also seeking peace for Nigeria, affordable food prices for citizens, and divine guidance for the nation’s leaders.

Buhari, who passed away in a London hospital on Sunday, was laid to rest in Daura on Tuesday, with President Bola Tinubu among those present at the burial.
