NPA, NSML, other stakeholders set for AMJON 2025 on Friday

Baring any unforeseen development, the Nigerian maritime industry is set for the annual Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) Conference and Awards, otherwise called AMJON 2025.

The event according to a statement by organiser is packaged in collaboration with the NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited,NSML, and it is slated to hold at the prestigious  Sheraton Hotel and Towers Lagos.

The statement signed by the organising committee chairman, Paul Ogbuokiri, disclosed that the conference will start by 10:00 AM prompt and it will have in attendance key maritime stakeholders and policy makers who have already indicated their desire to participate and deliver papers in the conference with the theme, Maritime Development: Training, Port Efficiency and Shipping Imperatives.

He said that papers shall be presented to further enrich and explore the main theme as NSML will deliver a paper titled: Vintage Position, Services, Contributions to Economy and National Development, the Nigerian Ports Authority(NPA) shall deliver paper on: Repositioning Nigerian Ports for Global Competitiveness and Excellence while  Nigerian maritime Administration and Safety Agency(NIMASA) will speak on the topic, Ensuring Safety and Security on Nigerian Water-What plans and Option.

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council and the Need for Efficient Port Regulation in Nigeria’s Port Industry will be delivered by the Nigerian Shippers’ Council just as the Maritime Academy of Nigeria Oron, the foremost maritime training institution in Nigeria will deliver a paper titled: Ensuring Efficient Manpower in Nigerian Maritime Industry-What Strategies and Options?

Speaking further, Ogbuokiri said that AMJON as the foremost maritime industry watchdog shall honour notable organisations, personalities and individuals.

Ogbuokiri expressed optimism that the theme of the conference “Maritime Development: Training, Port Efficiency and Shipping Imperatives” will feature detailed and informative presentations on specific topics.

He stated that the Conference shall further address key challenges and opportunities in the maritime industry based on industry trends and developments.

The honourees he said were carefully selected based on AMJON ‘s established standards of excellence, rigorous evaluation criteria which recognizes outstanding contributions, achievements and dedication to the maritime industry and the nation at large.

According to him, deserving honourees include NSML, NPA, NIMASA, NSC, MAN Oron, Inland Containers Nigerian Limited(ICNL), and the Chairman of Isoko North LGA of Delta State, Hon Prince Godwin Ogorugba.

Also, the brand new president of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu for the leadership qualities he has shown in the recent successful conducted of elections  in many branches of the union across the country.

The foremost maritime media outfit, JournalNG shall be honoured for being the most consistent maritime journal in Nigeria.

President of AMJON, Kelvin Kagbare said the association has painstakingly put the conference in place in order to harness and highlight the optimisation of port operations through digitalization, automation, and smart port technologies to reduce congestion, increase productivity, and improve customer satisfaction.

He assured participants of in-depth presentations, expert analyses, and engaging discussions that would undoubtedly act as catalyst to new collaborations, business opportunities and partnerships.
