NAGAFF disowns JACOFF, warns against ‘misrepresentation’ in strongly worded disclaimer

The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has issued a firm and unequivocal disclaimer distancing itself from the Joint Association of Customs Agent and Freight Forwarders (JACOFF), declaring that it has no affiliation, partnership, or operational relationship with the group.
In a public notice dated February 13, 2026, and signed by its Secretary-General, Fwdr. Godfrey Nwosu, the association made it clear that it is neither a member, affiliate, nor participant in JACOFF—formally or informally.
The statement, made available to journalists in Lagos, stressed that no individual or entity is authorized to represent, negotiate, or act on behalf of NAGAFF under JACOFF’s platform or umbrella.
It further cautioned stakeholders against attributing any of JACOFF’s actions or pronouncements to NAGAFF.
“Any claims, publications, statements, or activities undertaken by JACOFF should not be interpreted as having the endorsement, approval, participation, or consent of NAGAFF,” the notice stated.
In particularly strong language, the association warned that any attempt—deliberate or otherwise—to link NAGAFF with JACOFF’s activities amounts to misrepresentation and could attract appropriate legal or administrative sanctions.
The disclaimer, according to the association, is aimed at safeguarding its institutional integrity, identity, and independence. NAGAFF reaffirmed its commitment to its established governance structures, recognized regulatory engagements, and legitimate channels of industry representation.
It also advised government agencies, private sector operators, industry stakeholders, and members of the public to rely strictly on official communications issued through its accredited officers and authorized platforms.
The development signals a clear boundary-setting move by NAGAFF amid evolving alignments within the freight forwarding and customs brokerage space.
