The Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) has distanced itself from unauthorized virtual meetings and communications being circulated in its name, describing them as “misleading” and “a deliberate act of impersonation.”
In a statement issued by its National Executive Council (NEC), the Association made it clear that no such meeting had been approved, scheduled, or sanctioned by the legitimate leadership of ATPN. It urged members and stakeholders to disregard any virtual invitations not originating directly from the Office of the President or the National Secretariat.
“The Association operates by structure, not sentiment — by constitution, not conjecture,” the statement read. It added that those behind the “phantom meetings” were merely seeking relevance through disruption, warning that such actions were intended to sow confusion and tarnish the image of ATPN within the tourism industry.
Reaffirming its commitment to reform, professionalism, and accountability, the Association said its leadership remains united and focused on the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s tourism sector.
ATPN also cautioned that any individuals or groups attempting to hijack its identity or mislead the public would face disciplinary and legal consequences.
“For the avoidance of doubt,” the NEC emphasized, “all official ATPN communications shall bear the signature and seal of the National Secretariat for authenticity.”
The Association called on all members, partners, and industry stakeholders to remain vigilant and support its structured efforts toward a more credible and accountable tourism industry.
