The Anambra State Assembly (ANSHA), has passed the Igbo Apprenticeship Bill (Igba Boi) into law.
Effective September 10, 2025, the law, gives legal backing to the ‘Igba Boi’ system, a wealth creation system which the Igbo are noted for.
Advocacy Times learnt that the new law, yet to be assented to by the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo sets apprenticeship duration to seven years.
Our Correspondent also learnt that it requires basic education for apprentices
This as it establishes a Commission to register apprentices & resolve disputes.
Commentators who reacted to the new law on Facebook, described it as a bold step to modernize and protect the legendary Igbo wealth-creation model which has long been adopted as a course at the Harvard University.
