Akutah hails Shippers’ Council PR Unit, harps on more efforts

The Executive Secretary/CEO of Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Dr. Akutah Pius, MON has praised the Council’s Public Relations Unit for its impressive performance as the image- maker of the apex maritime regulatory agency in Nigeria.

Akutah made the commendation at the opening ceremony of the 2025 NSC Public Relations Retreat, with the theme: “Building, Strategic Planning, Sharing Ideas to Stay Ahead of Competition” held recently in Lagos.

The Shippers’ Council CEO acknowledged that the theme for the PR Retreat was in line with the Council’s plan to transmute to the Nigerian Port Economic Regulatory Agency (NPERA) with the goal of creating effective regulations at the nation’s seaports.

He said that the Shippers’ Council is known for its impeccable role in the maritime sector noting that the Council is aiming at bigger responsibility for the sector.

The NSC ES commended the Public Relations Unit for its impressive performance, while urging the team to demonstrate even greater commitment moving forward.

He also drummed support for the training and retraining of PR staff for the optimal execution of their duties.

Also speaking at the event, Head, Strategic Planning & Research Department of the Council, Mr. Rotimi Anifowose called on the members of staff to ensure self-development as practitioners of Public Relations.

Anifowose also enjoined the staffers to imbibe discipline and be more responsive in the management of the Council’s reputation.

Meanwhile, Assistant Director, Public Relations Unit of the NSC, Rebecca Adamu, expressed the Unit’s profound gratitude to the Executive Secretary/ CEO for gracing the occasion and his inspiring remarks.

She also appreciated the support of the CEO and Management staffers for making the retreat a reality.
