The Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria has lauded the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) over the commissioning and official launch of the Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund (CVFF) Application Portal, describing the move as a decisive step toward transparency and sector-wide reform.

In a statement issued on behalf of women maritime associations across the country, WISTA Nigeria President, Dr. Odunayo Ani, congratulated the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, and the Director-General of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, for delivering what she called a long-awaited, forward-looking solution for industry stakeholders.

Ani said the digital portal represents a significant advancement for Nigeria’s maritime sector, noting that it simplifies access to the CVFF, enhances transparency in the application process, and restores confidence among operators and investors who have long advocated for reforms in the administration of the fund.

According to her, the initiative reflects strong leadership and a shared commitment by the Ministry and NIMASA to drive efficiency, inclusiveness, and sustainable growth within the marine and blue economy.

“We commend the Honourable Minister and the Director-General for their strategic vision and resolve in implementing practical solutions that address longstanding needs in the industry,” the statement read. “The CVFF Application Portal is a clear demonstration of deliberate efforts to modernise processes, deepen stakeholder engagement, and unlock new opportunities for indigenous operators.”

Ani further reaffirmed the support of women in the maritime ecosystem for policies and initiatives that promote equity, professionalism, and innovation, stressing that inclusive growth remains critical to building a resilient and competitive sector.

She expressed WISTA Nigeria’s readiness to continue collaborating with the Ministry, NIMASA, and other industry partners to strengthen Nigeria’s maritime landscape and fully harness the potential of the blue economy.

The CVFF Application Portal is expected to streamline access to cabotage financing, improve accountability in fund disbursement, and support indigenous capacity development in line with Nigeria’s maritime and local content aspirations.
