Mbaise seeks 3 fresh local governments, adopts 1994/95 constitutional conference report on LGAs

Stakeholders in the Mbaise nation recently at the ‘Ezuruezu Mbaise Civic Center’, in Aboh Mbaise Local Government headquarters adopted the report of the 1994/95 Abuja Constitutional Conference Report which proposed the creation of three more Local Government Areas out of the present three LGAs in the Mbaise nation.

Speaking at the occasion, the Ezuruezu Mbaise President Joe Ogbonna Anosike, urged Mbaise sons and daughters to put behind their political differences and party affiliations in matters concerning the collective interest of the Mbaise nation.

The representative of Ahiazu and Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency, Hon Emeka Chinedu, and the three Imo State House of Assembly members, Dr Henry Agbasonu, Chief Otuibe and Hon Ugochukwu Amuchie in their comments vowed to work in the best interest of the people.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of Ezuruezu Mbaise, Chief Pst Christian Nwokocha, disclosed that during presentations, Chief Mike Ahamba SAN, who represented the people of Aboh Mbaise, emphasised the need to create Oke Ovoru Local Government Area which he said was endorsed by all traditional rulers across Mbaise land and the Owerri zone.

According to him, among other presentations made during the Mbaise Stakeholders meeting was the 1994/95 Constitutional Conference report, presented by Chief Louis Alozie SAN who was unanimously adopted.

He noted that the constitutional conference report contains recommendations of three additional local government areas in Mbaise.

Advocacy Times reports that the constitutional conference report recommendations include; Ezinihitte South with headquartered at Oboama Ezinihitte, Ezinihitte North – headquartered at Itu.

Others are: Oke Ovoro with headquarter at Uvuru, Aboh Mbaise – headquarter remains where it is presently, Ekwereazu with headquarter at Oparanadim and Ahiara – headquarter at Afor Oru.

Committee headed by Chief Barr Louis Alozie (SAN) to develop a clean copy of acceptable proposals was inaugurated.

Other members of the committee include; Chief Mike Ahamba SAN (ADVISER), Chief Fan Ndubuoke, Chief Kevin Agbaegbu, Barr Ambrose Ugboaja, Comrade Austin Chilakpo, Hon Sam Nwobasi,

Hon Ugochukwu Amuchie, Dr Henry Agbasaonu, Chief Otuibe and House of Representatives Member, RT. Hon Emeke Chinedu.

Traditional rulers and Chairmen of the three local governments were present and made solidarity speeches.
