As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary, the Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Front has expressed optimism that ongoing Federal Government reforms and interventions across the country are laying the foundation for a more prosperous future.
The media organisation, which coordinates the media activities of Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, the 2026 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, said the impact of federal interventions was increasingly visible in critical sectors of the state’s economy and social development.
In the education sector, the group said Federal Government interventions through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) had supported public universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and basic education infrastructure in Osun State with interventions valued at more than ₦12 billion since 2023.
It also highlighted the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) student loan scheme, which it said had expanded access to financial assistance for more than 50,000 students in tertiary institutions across the state, including students in the 11 technical colleges owned by the Osun State Government.
According to the group, the interventions demonstrate that the Federal Government’s reform agenda extends beyond Abuja, with investments reaching institutions and citizens across the federation.
The AMBO Media Front also cited developments in the housing sector, noting that the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development had completed and handed over 24 housing units constructed under the National Housing Programme to the University of Ilesa.
It said the housing intervention was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve staff welfare, strengthen tertiary institutions and address the country’s housing deficit.
The group further noted that the Federal Housing Authority was working to ensure that Osun State benefits from the Federal Government’s plan to provide 154,800 housing units nationwide.
“These interventions provide concrete signs that the journey towards national prosperity, though challenging, remains on course,” the organisation said.
The group said the 66th Independence Anniversary offered an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the country’s achievements and challenges since independence, while also recognising ongoing efforts to address infrastructure, education, housing and other development needs.
“This year’s October 1 celebration is not being marked in a vacuum. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the challenges of the past 66 years, acknowledge the difficulties confronting citizens today, and equally recognise tangible interventions being undertaken by the Federal Government across Nigeria and, specifically, in Osun State,” it said.
The AMBO Media Front acknowledged that the reform process would not be without difficulties, stressing that sustained leadership, prudent management of resources and accountability would be necessary to ensure that government interventions translate into improved living conditions.
It therefore called on Osun indigenes and Nigerians at home and abroad to remain hopeful and committed to the Nigerian project.
“We believe that with sustained reforms, prudent management of resources, greater accountability and continued investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, industry and human capital, Nigeria can realise its enormous potential,” the organisation said.
The group also congratulated Nigerians on the Independence Anniversary and reaffirmed its support for Oyebamiji, while offering prayers for the peace, unity and prosperity of the country.
